How do I login to WebMail?

If your email is hosted by EMA, browse to the home page of your web site and click on the "WebMail" link at the bottom of the page. From there, enter your username or full email address and password. You can also type in the following URL:

 http://webmail.domain.com (replace 'domain.com' with your domain name)

How do I empty the trash folder?

The trash is empties automatically when you press the "Logout" button. If you close your browser without pressing "Logout" the trash won't be emptied. top

How many messages can I send per day?

To protect users from abuse, WebMail has daily limits on the number of messages that can be sent as follows:

These WebMail allowances are well above what an average email user requires. In the event that you frequently exhaust your daily allowance, please contact Support. top

I upgraded to SpamShield Pro, why can't I access this feature?

Some WebMail changes such as upgrading from SpamShield Lite to SpamShield Pro may take up to 15 minutes to appear. If you have upgraded to a premium feature, for example, you can logout of WebMail and then login again to use the new feature immediately. top

What languages does WebMail support?

WebMail currently supports the following languages:

WebMail automatically honors your web browser's preferred language preference. Refer to your web browser's documentation for instructions on setting its language preferences. top

Why am I having problems deleting messages in WebMail?

If messages were deleted and moved to the Trash folder of the WebMail box, but continue to "appear", do the following. First, verify that users are not only moving the messages to the trash folder, but that once the message is moved to the trash folder, the user:

  1. Opens the Trash Folder and clicks on the Empty Trash link OR,
  2. Clicks on the LogOut button, which will empty the trash

If they move messages to the trash but do not complete both of the above steps, the messages in the trash will remain. top

Why does my WebMail "User Session" expire?

For security purposes, the WebMail user session will expire (logout) after 2 hours of inactivity. When this occurs, any unsaved changes may be lost.

Tip: If you are using WebMail on a public computer, be sure to choose Logout, and exit/quit the web browser after you are done using WebMail. top

How do I change my WebMail password?

WebMail can be used to change the login password for all of the following services:

To change the user login password via WebMail:

  1. Login to WebMail
  2. Choose Options
  3. Choose Password
  4. Enter your Old Password - This is the password used in the first step
  5. Choose a New Password - The password must contain at least 6 characters. It cannot be the same as the Old Password
  6. Re-enter New Password - Re-type the password used in the previous step to verify that it is correct
  7. For New Password Question, enter a unique question that only you know the answer to. This question will be asked when a password reset is requested
  8. For New Password Answer, enter the answer to the question entered in the previous step. This answer will be required when a password reset is requested. (Note that the Password Answer is case sensitive.)
  9. Choose Save

How do I change the WebMail "Time Zone"?

WebMail can use the local time zone. To set the local time zone:

  1. Login to WebMail
  2. Choose Options
  3. Choose Preferences
  4. From the Time Zone menu, choose the local time zone
  5. Choose Save

Does Adware conflict with WebMail?

Adware, software that replaces advertisements with its own, may interfere with WebMail. To check your Windows system for adware, you can download a free utility such as Ad-aware from Lavasoft.

Spybot Search & Destroy by PepiMK Software also scans for spyware, software that allows a stranger to remotely monitor and control your computer.

Mac OS users can download SecureMac.com's MacScan although the Mac OS is generally not targeted by adware or spyware. top

Does WebMail work with MSN TV?

WebMail does not officially support MSN TV (formerly, Web TV) at this time.

If your WebMail account includes Email Forwarding, you can forward your messages to your MSN TV account where they can be read by the MSN TV email application. Email forwarded from WebMail will still be restricted by the current limitations of MSN TV. top

What features does WebMail's "Rich Text Editor" have?

The WebMail Rich Text Editor ("Send as Rich Text") enables you to compose and reply to email with styled messages using formatting tools similar to those found in most modern word processors; Font Style: Arial, Helvetica, Sans-Serif, Courier New, Courier, mono, Times New Roman, Times, serif, Verdana and Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif with 7 different font sizes. Other formatting features include; bold, italic, underline, align left, center, right, full-justify, horizontal rules, lists (ordered and bullet), indenting, text and background color.

Rich Text Editor (RTE) & Internet Explorer (IE):

The Rich Text Editor under IE uses

(paragraph) tags similar to the behavior of other Microsoft programs. (The Rich Text Editor under Mozilla-based browsers tends to always use tags.) When a browser encounters a new tag, it typically inserts one blank line plus some extra vertical space into the message before starting a new paragraph like…

tag that explicitly forces a line break is handled like…
…this. To explicitly force line breaks in IE (and most other Microsoft programs such as Word), choose Shift-Return.

The Rich Text Editor under IE also does not support Edit menu (Alt-E) commands (Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, et al.) in the contextual menu (right-click). To use Edit menu commands within the Rich Text Editor, use the IE Edit menu, or an Edit menu command's keyboard shortcut (e.g. Ctrl-Z for Undo). top

What is UTF-8 Character Encoding in WebMail?

Outbound messages sent from WebMail are fully standards compliant with The Unicode Standard, the Internationally recognized standard for multilingual communication on the Internet and all modern computer systems worldwide. Unicode ensures that the characters you use in your message are the same characters that the recipient of your message sees.

Tip: If your recipient no longer sees the correct characters in your message and they are using a web-based email service that does not handle Unicode messages properly, they may need to manually set their browser to use Unicode (UTF-8). top
